Jun 15, 2017 - Cowbells will be Ringing at the Finish Line of Ridgetown’s 5K Sod Buster Walk/Run

June 15, 2017, Ridgetown: If you enjoy walking or running then Ridgetown Campus invites you to lace up your shoes and register for their third 5K Sod Buster event. The event promises to help you stay healthy, make new acquaintances, join with Westag alumni, and just have some good old fashion fun! The event is scheduled for Sunday, July 9, 2017 and will begin at 8:00 AM.

Everyone who crosses the finish line will receive a shiny red cowbell as the event medal. The bells offer a great ring and it may be the only cowbell you’ll ever own. The event will also offer a healthy selection of nutritious snacks and a 150th Canada birthday cake; all provided by Chartwell’s, one of our many event sponsors.

The purpose of the fund raising event is to continue to build awareness of the proposed new Ontario Sustainable Crop Research and Innovation Centre and the leadership role Ridgetown Campus plays in applied agricultural research.

The Sod Buster event will take participants around the campus on the 5 km route, and race participants will all receive a red technical t-shirt. Event Chairperson, Gary Paling, class of 1974 says, “The event working group is targeting 400 participants for the run/walk.” The 5 km event is open to anyone and a free Barnyard Dash at 10:30 AM will offer kids age 6 and under some special fun. Barnyard Dash participants will also take home a cowbell medal!
